Birth of GIPE

On August 27, 1985, the association GIPE (Gestores Inmobiliarios Profesionales Europeos), originally known as "Gestor Intermediario en Promociones de Edificaciones," was born with its headquarters in Málaga at the Palacio Salinas, as a response to a societal demand.

This initiative arose from the need to have specialized professionals who, in the course of their duties, contributed to the development and assurance of the real estate sector, offering their professionalism and technical knowledge. Up until that point, there was a monopoly of individuals belonging to certain professional bodies, some of whom lacked knowledge of the real estate industry and had no real competition to contend with.

Royal Decree 830/1981

The first mention of the profession can already be found in Royal Decree 830/1981, dated March 27, in which it implicitly recognizes the existence of professionals known as "Gestores Intermediarios en Promociones de Edificaciones" (Intermediary Managers in Building Promotions), with the number 159, within Group 15 dedicated to Managers in Public and Private Affairs.

We clearly differentiate ourselves from other types of professionals for tax purposes.
Mr. Antonio Reina, the first president of GIPE, was from that moment when he, along with a group of professionals, including Miguel Garrido and Alfred van Krimpen, decided to come together and create the Professional Association of Intermediary Managers in Building Promotions.

Province of Málaga

This group of professionals, who were the seed of the association, established their own bylaws. Following the regular procedure of deposit and publication, this led to the birth of the Professional Association.

Initially, we were authorized to operate within the territorial scope of the province of Málaga by the Mediation, Arbitration, and Conciliation Center of the Ministry of Labor and Social Security of the Junta de Andalucía, on August 27, 1985.

On June 13, 1986, the association's scope expanded to cover all of Spain.

Subsequently, and by the agreement of the General Assembly of Members, the association initiated the necessary procedures with public authorities to expand its territorial scope to a national level.

On June 13, 1986, the Ministry of Labor and Social Security granted legal personality and full legal capacity to the Association of Intermediary Managers in Building Promotions (GIPE).

From that date onward, the Association has been governed with full autonomy and enjoys legal protection to ensure its independence from the Public Administration, as well as protection against any interference from other associations.

IN THE PRESENT DAY In 2023, GIPE undergoes a profound reorganization

Today, the Professional Association of European Professional Real Estate Managers (GIPE) is an association of the most qualified professionals in the real estate field across the entire national territory of Spain.

GIPE’s tasks are not only focused on institutional support as part of the European Association of Real Estate Professionals but also on defending the rights of its members in Spain and Europe.
