Limit on updating lease contracts after May 26, 2023
The National Institute of Statistics (INE) has established a monthly index of 2.2% for updating the rents of lease contracts signed after May 26, 2023, applicable from February 2025. This will be valid only if the contract includes an update clause based on the CPI. Landlords must notify the tenant in writing of the adjustment, indicating the corresponding percentage.
The index will be published monthly to update the rents following the usual procedure, but applying only to contracts after May 26, 2023.
